ROCHE

A non-exhaustive itinerary for a week-end in Marseille : beaches restaurants, shops & hotels.

One-way ticket to the Mediterranean...

Sea, sand and sun

Crystal clear waters and blue skies are probably what comes into our minds in the first place when we think about Marseille. The beaches, the Mediterranean and the creeks give the feeling of living in a real postcard...

To help you out with the planning of your little trip to Marseille, we've made a selection of the most beautiful calanques and sandy beaches :

Calanques :

  1. Malmousque
  2. Les Goudes
  3. Sormiou
  4. D'en Vau
  5. Cassis

Sandy beaches :

  1. Catalans
  2. Prophètes
  3. Prado
  4. Pointé Rouge
  5. La Verrerie

For food and wine lovers

We can all probably agree on the fact that eating well makes a holiday unforgettable. Especially when you sit by the water and enjoy local, seasonal and fresh seafood with the song of the waves in the background. We know the perfect places for that.

Tuba is first on the list. A few steps away from Port Les Goudes, you'll find this trendy restaurant where we recommend their lovely lunches. Be careful to book in advance. On the menu : colorful dishes which taste divinely good. After the meal, a little sunbath in a calanque is a must...

Jogging is the staple concept store in Marseille. Located near the Old Port, this unusual place offers a large selection of accessories, ready-to-wear, design objects and art pieces. But... If Jogging is in the food category it is obviously for their cuisine. For a well deserved lunch (only), have a seat at their cute, hidden terrace. A good way to support sustainable agriculture, as their dishes are made only with local products.

Other places we haven't tried yet, but that we'll be sure not to miss on our next trip there:

  1. Les eaux de Mars
  2. Sépia
  3. Les 3 coups

If you like being surprised, La Mercerie is made for you. Their "discovery" menu, is a 5 course dive into the gastronomy of Marseille, for 55 euros/pp. Add to that 35€ for the wine pairing. Refined and original dishes that will awaken your senses and satisfy the gourmet in you.

Reservation required. In general, we advise you to always book your restaurants in advance.

Wine o'clock :

In the Pharo district, at the bar La Relève, you can have a small glass of local wine or a beer accompanied by Panisses, a Provencal specialty that is just incredible!

Not far from there, we highly recommend the Café de L'abbaye, an institution in Marseille!

Next to the Old Port, in the Opera district, take a little walk and let yourself be seduced by the café of your choice...

Other places we didn't go to but heard are worth it :

  1. Le carré
  2. La cabane des amis
  3. Ciel rooftop
  4. La terrasse du Mucem

Bring me back home

Of course, we recommend the famous store Maison Empereur . A drugstore also known as Ali Baba's cave : from a Marseille soap to a collector's piece, you will sure find the little souvenir you've been longing for.

During your shopping trip, don't forget to make a stop at Jogging (we mentioned it above). An unusual store in a former butcher's shop. Brands like Jacquemus, LaManso or Marine Serre are to be found there.  Even if you don't plan to buy anything there, the atmosphere of those two different shops are worth the visit!

No need recommend to you the famous soap of Marseille and Pastis known to all ;-)

Bed time

We stayed at La Résidence du Vieux-Port. A small and cozy hotel located in the heart of Marseille. The view on the Vieux-Port and the Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde is breathtaking!

What we did not try but was recommended to us:

  1. Tuba Club
  2. Cabanon des Goudes
  3. Samena

All located in the calanques, we recommend to your to have a look at them. Be careful to book it in advance..

Worth the stroll

Of course, we can't avoid visiting and walking around the center of Marseille...

We loved wondering through the narrow street of Marseille's oldest district : the Panier. Colorful street-art walls, cafés, small designer shops and clean laundry along the facades ; a popular atmosphere that we really enjoyed.

For those of you who like a good walk, we also recommend the Pharo disctric. With its beautiful palace of the same name and the Emile Dulcaux park, taking a stroll there is lovely...

A must : the Mucem. An institution in Marseille. No need for a thousand words about it, have a look and you will understand.

Before ending this weekend, spend a moment at the Basilic of Notre-Dame de la Garde. An emblematic monument of the city of Marseille. It overlooks the city from the top ! It will offer you one of the most beautiful views, at 360 degrees.

Nostalgia

Organic

Roche, or a collection that was inspired by those moments spent lounging in Marseille's calanques, walking along their rocky shores swept by the mistral. A collection with unique and irregular shapes, like a wind of nostalgia that reminds us of summer and holidays on the beach with our feet in the water. A place where life is good and seems softer. A gentle way to end the summer.

Marseille, whose name in Occitan is Marselha, is one of the most beautiful cities in the south of France. An inspiring city of art and culture, with idyllic landscapes. A mix of ancient times, with the Old Port and the Calanques, and modern with its many contemporary monuments. A city that has totally inspired this ROCHE collection, to end this month of September with a soft touch...

Prado necklace

The Prado ring takes its name from the Prado avenue leading directly to the beaches. Between sand and rocks, the curves of this ring are inspired by the many bays along the Mediterranean coast. When wearing the Prado ring, it feels like a direct trip to the beach, enjoying the last sunrays of summer
