- AROZ. Introduce yourself in a few words!
Laura & Paola: Laura and Paola Sole, 34 and 31 years old, we're the creators of the brand AROZ jewelry.
- AROZ. Why jewelry? Why Aroz?
Laura & Paola : Because of our grandmother and our mother, we have always been immersed in this universe. When it came to choosing our studies, we both chose different routes (Paola in speech therapy, Laura in marketing) to finally realize a few years later that the world of jewelry was part of us, and Aroz was born. Well, Zora by L at the time ;)
- AROZ. What are the pros & cons of working with your family?
Laura & Paola : There are many advantages... First of all, we know each other better than anyone else, we understand each other without even speaking, we can spend 24/24h together and that's the best of the best. The only disadvantage we could mention is that we are maybe too often focused on work, and therefore we don't always take the time to talk about other things when we are together, we don't take the time to really disconnect from our professional life.
- AROZ. What inspires you in your daily work or life?
Laura & Paola : Everything inspires us :) We find a lot of inspirations in our travels, in the old jewelry (the drawers of our grandmother are a great source of inspiration). But we can also find inspiration during a walk, watching a movie ... In the richness of what surrounds us.
AROZ. Your plans for 2023?
Laura & Paola : A collection inspired by our roots (again ;)), a shooting abroad, new collab, a new identity maybe, ... We have many projects, that's what makes us live and makes Aroz live.
AROZ. Any advice on how to get started in entrepreneurship?
Laura & Paola : Don't think too much, don't tell yourself "maybe it's not the right time" because it's never the right time... launch yourself while keeping a little security, don't be afraid of failure or of what can happen. Because if you don't try, you don't know if it will work or not. And then, it is by failing that we learn and move forward!
AROZ. What are the jewels that you never leave?
L. My engagement ring from Coralie Van Caloen (a belgian designer) and the Rita ring with my son's birth date. I also have the Elvis bracelet that I never leave. And recently, the Sole medallion (which was released on June 21st) and my son's name in the same style as the Parola pendants.
P. The Marselha ring (recently replaced by the La Nonna ring), my TchO ring from Théa Jewelry received by my boyfriend that I wear with a ring adorned with a beautiful Tourmaline made by Laura for my 18th birthday. For earrings, the Ella, Jimi, Grace Five & Oti gold piercing (yes, I have the space to put all this :-D)
AROZ. What is THE piece you like best among all your creations ?
L. It's very difficult to choose. Today, I would say the Dario necklace but otherwise I really like the Maïté necklace (created with my grandmother's shells), the Marselha ring or the Moonsnail bracelet which is part of the collab with Bellerose.
P. The choice is indeed very difficult! To name my favorite piece from the new Ciao Signorina collection, I would have to say the La Nonna medal. I loved seeing the process of creation with the workshop. From a simple photo of our Nonna they managed to make it in 3D. Sharing it with our dad was magical and moving.
AROZ. What is your mantra? The phrase or word you would engrave on a medallion ?
L&P. Mangia bene, ridi spesso, ama molto*
That summarizes life pretty well! At least ours :-D
*Eat well, laugh often, love much.
AROZ. An anecdote to tell for the most curious?
L&P. When we were young, at Christmas, when our dad used to open oysters, he always managed to slip a pearl inside. And every time, we were amazed and excited. Our eyes shone with joy, it was magic!
AROZ. The new Ciao Signorina collection has just been released! What does it mean to you? Why Italy?
L&P. First of all because we like to be inspired by our different trips, and then being half Italian, we had to create a collection inspired by this culture, our origins (And actually we are also two big fans of the Italian cuisine).
This collection is very important to us. It means a lot. Maybe because we immersed ourselves in all our memories, we were inspired by, our origins, our grandmother's jewelry, ... And then, because we created a medal in her image, the Nonna, which we can't stop wearing. It was released on June 21, with the last drop from our Ciao Signorina collection, the one about Sicily.
